Biography
Joanna Lim comes from an international teaching background,
having taught ECE, primary and secondary sectors. She has an academic
background in Business Administration, Business Computing (University of
Winnipeg, Canada), Primary Education (Charles Sturt University, Australia), and
Education (Leicester, UK and University of Canterbury, NZ). She is interested
in teacher education and learning, with a particular focus on professional
teacher inquiry, and digital education, given her academic, professional and
teaching experiences in digital literacy and technologies. She is currently an
Adjunct Fellow at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and has previously
been a post-doctoral researcher and lecturer.
Joanna explores how and why teachers learn professionally
and in turn, how teacher learning and education shapes student learning
experiences. Through this intellectual curiosity about educative experiences,
she positions learning as a meaning-making process and a way to make sense of
learning, working and living. This position is also extended into digital
educational practices, where she examines current shifts and discourses around digital
literacy, pedagogy and educational leadership. Inherent in both interest areas,
she grapples with alternative ways of knowing and being in the world by
attending to the ethical and social implications of education.
